Applying Selection Joining Terms and Conditions Cabin Crew Flight Deck Crew
Joining - When can/should I resign from my company if the Emirates Group is interested in me?
We recommend you resign only once you have completed all your Pre-employment conditions with us and we will advise you as they are completed.
- For locally recruited candidates in the UAE, how can I get a No Objection Letter (NOL) from my company without resigning?
Certain companies do give their employees NOLs. If the only way out to get a NOL is for you to resign, then you will have to make that decision and take that risk. Emirates will not be responsible for any liabilities that may come up due to your decision to resign before all your pre-employment conditions are met.
- Do I need to do a full Medical or an X-ray?
Yes, but only if it is a pre-requisite and a requirement for your employment in the UAE and you will be briefed by your Recruitment Co-ordinator.
- Am I required to do a Police clearance before joining?
Yes, it is part of the pre-employment conditions that all employees whether Overseas or Local, Temporary or Permanent must be security cleared before joining the company. This will be completed by Emirates Recruitment staff. For all locally recruited candidates who have been on residence visa in the UAE for more than 6 months, you are required to do a police clearance. This is part of the pre-employment conditions.
- Will I be able to bring unaccompanied baggage from locations that Emirates does not fly to?
Yes, for these occasions we work with a preferred airfreight company "Freightworks". Emirates will meet the cost of the unaccompanied baggage up to the contractual allowance. Details of which will be provided to you by your Recruitment Co-ordinator.
- Can I bring my cargo by sea? What will be the reimbursement?
Yes! Only in case of offline sectors (where Emirates does not fly to). You will need to submit to us two quotations from sea freight forwarders and we shall approve one of these as the suitable carrier for you to use. The amount to be reimbursed will be approved after quotation submission, taking in to consideration the cost of airfreight from the offline city to the nearest Emirates destination. Your entitled weight by sea remains the same as that by air, and only that would be reimbursed.
- Will the medical charges I incur to join the Company be reimbursed?
Only medical consultations and X-ray charges are covered, with any vaccination or treatment costs required needing to be settled by you.
- Will courier charges be reimbursed when I send documents to Dubai from overseas?
No, these charges are not reimbursed.
- Where and how do I get my marriage certificate attested if I am married before or after I join?
You have to get your marriage certificate first attested at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in your country and then by the UAE Consulate in your country. Once you come to Dubai, you will have to get your marriage certificate further attested with your consulate here in the UAE. If your country does not have a consulate here in Dubai, then you may get your marriage certificate attested at your country’s consulate or Embassy in any of the neighbouring countries to the UAE. There are some exceptions so please discuss your own situation and requirements with your
Recruitment Co-ordinator.
- Will the company give me accommodation for the first few days when I arrive in Dubai if I am not eligible for company accommodation?
Yes, for 2 weeks only . This allows you time to locate other accommodation.
- My Job Designation is different on my employment visa, from what my contract says. Why?
The Government Immigration Department has a set of standard designations, which they use, and these could be different from our company designations. But this will not cause any problem because the Emirates designation mentioned in your offer of employment will stand.
- What is my date of joining?
The date of joining will be the date you board the international flight to Dubai or in the case of local recruits, your date of joining will be the date that you are advised by Recruitment to report to your new department to start working.
- Can I travel to Dubai along with my family when I join? Will Emirates Group arrange and pay for their visas ?(Applicable to certain grades only)
Yes, you can travel to Dubai with your family when you join. But your family will have to travel on Visit Visas (their residence visas will only be processed once your residence visa is endorsed). It is strongly recommended to have your family travel 2-3 weeks after your arrival, so that you can get residence visas for them once your own residence visa is endorsed. This avoids your family having to leave the country (UAE) and return again on residence visas, and this way they are required to make only one permanent entry. Please note that you have to sort out all documents, which are required, like their passports, marriage certificate, etc., before they land, so that you don't waste time upon your arrival in Dubai. The Emirates Group will assist staff in obtaining visas and these charges are only paid for by the Emirates Group for certain level positions. This will be advised by your Recruitment Co-ordinator at the time of joining.
- How long does it take from the time of the final interview to hear if I am successful or not?
It can be in 1-2 weeks, but depends on where in the process you are assessed and as we recruit globally it normally takes around 6-8 weeks.
- Can I join from a country other than my domicile?
Yes.
- Does the Emirates Group have an induction programme for new joiners?
Yes. Your induction to the Emirates Group is split into a number of areas. - A Company Overview and its Work Culture: A one day induction programme exists which covers the history of the Group, cultural norms in the region, etc. - Employment Terms and Conditions: You are given a number of briefing sessions over the course of your first week with the company. This includes topics applicable to you and may cover areas such as Provident Fund or Superannuation Fund, Education, Insurance, etc.
- Who do I call or email to get a ruling on whether a pre existing condition is covered or not by the medical scheme?
You may contact the Recruitment Coordinator. The final decision is taken by our Chief Medical Officer and you will be advised before joining. As with all insurance companies there is an exclusion list and any pre existing condition/s are normally exclusion.
- If I fail my pre-joining medical, will I be told the reason?
This is at the discretion of the company.
- Is there a pre-joining medical for families?
Yes – it is a requirement for the company medical scheme. All persons joining the scheme must complete a medical and dental check.
- Why do we need to do an AIDS test, and what will happen if we fail?
The HIV virus test is a government regulation in order to be granted a residence visa. If you fail the test after joining the company you will be deported
