A Day in the Life of
Mikhail Sokor shares a glimpse into his day as Principal Software Engineer.
7:00 AM
Focus time, self-learning
I spend the first two hours of my day developing strategies, analysing patterns and looking for problem areas and possible solutions for my current and future projects
9:00 AM
Stand up meeting
I meet with my autonomous agile team (AAT) for 10 to 15 minutes to make sure we’re all in sync and that any issue is addressed immediately
12:00 PM
One on one meeting
I meet with my team members 1-2-1 to discuss priorities and stay up to date on operational matters. I also use this time to just check on them and find out if they need support or if they would like more training in any area.

Lunch break
I like to take my breaks at the atrium on the second floor. Sometimes I just go for a coffee and sandwich to go. Other times I meet up with friends over lunch. There are lots of options there.

Leadership meeting
I regularly meet with the heads of each department to discuss what’s going on in the current week and how to move forward.
3:00 PM
Candidate interview
An important part of my job as a manager is to find and recruit new talent for our team. I typically interview a candidate to assess whether they should be hired after they’ve completed the technical coding assessment as part of our recruitment process.
